The gastrointestinal, or GI, tract is the system of organs that makes up the digestive system. The digestive system includes the esophagus, stomach and small and large intestines. Our gastroenterology clinic in Shakopee, an expert team of gastroenterologists from Ridgeview Medical Center, offers a wide range of services that will help diagnose, treat and prevent future digestive issues including inflammatory bowel, heartburn, digestive and swallowing issues. Using the latest endoscopic equipment they can thoroughly assess a patient’s symptoms and prescribe an effective treatment. They also work with outpatients who need colonoscopies.
St. Francis Regional Medical Center, in partnership with Ridgeview Medical Center, has developed this gastrointestinal program to serve the needs of patients in the southwest metro. Ridgeview gastroenterologists are now available on the St. Francis campus to care for clinic patients, perform procedures, offer inpatient services and consults to other providers.
Our board-certified gastroenterologists are experts in diagnosing, managing and treating diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract including inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal disorders, hepatology, colon cancer and diseases of the pancreas and bile ducts. Gastroenterologists receive dedicated training in endoscopy, the use of narrow, flexible lighted tubes with built-in video cameras, to visualize the inside of the intestinal tract.
