Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) happens when a heart unexpectedly stops beating. SCA kills more than 300,000 people in the United States each year, but if a nonmedical bystander has CPR Skills and intervenes immediately, the victim’s chances of survival increase dramatically.

St. Francis partners with Allina Health’s Heart Safe Communities to present a CPR Anytime Friends & Family/AED course. The 90-minute course will teach lifesaving skills in case of an emergency. For groups of 8 or more, courses are available in the comfort of your own home. The only cost is that you agree to pass it on. Sharing information in this fashion has saved countless lives.

Through this model, 2,000-plus people have been trained annually and it's estimated to have helped almost 11,000 people to date.
