A certified nurse-midwife is a registered nurse with an advanced master's or doctoral degree and is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Midwives work with doctors to care for women during pregnancy, childbirth and after delivery. Midwives also coordinate family planning and general health care for women of all ages.
