Good Nights…Better Tomorrows Sleep Diagnostics Center

A Good Night's Sleep—it might seem like a luxury after a hectic week at work, burning the midnight oil during finals, or after another night with a crying infant. But a good night's sleep isn't just a luxury, it is necessary for good health and optimal body function. Unfortunately, a good night’s sleep isn’t always easy to come by. In fact, 1 out of 3 Americans suffers from a sleep disorder, and yet 95% of them still remain undiagnosed and untreated!

St. Francis Sleep Diagnostics Center provides comprehensive clinical evaluation and treatment to patients with a variety of sleep disorders. Finally, people who have trouble getting a good night's sleep can find out why and get help.

What is a sleep study?

If you suspect you might have a sleep disorder, your doctor may refer you to a sleep center for evaluation and sleep study (also called a polysomnogram). A sleep study is a specialized test that records your body movements, brain waves, blood oxygen levels, breathing patterns, muscle tone, heart rhythms, snoring levels, and general behavior while you sleep. Rest assured…a sleep study isn’t painful and the sensors shouldn’t interfere with one's sleep.

Opened in June of 2005, St. Francis Sleep Diagnostics Center is one of the most beautiful and comfortable sleep testing facilities in the Twin Cities area.  We are conveniently located at 500 South Marschall Road, Suite 220 in Shakopee, just 12 blocks north of St. Francis main campus in the Voyager Bank Building.

All sleep studies are conducted in a comfortable, private bedroom equipped with a Sleep Number bed, personal phone, cable TV and a DVD player. Each room is near a full bathroom with a shower. Each suite provides a "hotel-like" appeal that includes a quiet atmosphere, pleasant lighting and adjustable temperature to ensure optimal sleeping conditions. While comfortable and clean bedding is provided, patients are encouraged to bring along their own pillow as well as quiet reading materials or a favorite DVD. A complimentary continental breakfast is also available to you in the morning, as well as lunches and snacks should you require any additional daytime testing.

In addition, sleep studies performed at the St. Francis Sleep Diagnostics Center are conducted by very compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable board-registered sleep technologists. Studies are then reviewed by one of our two board-certified sleep physicians, Doctors Salim Kathawalla and Keith Harmon. You can be assured that all aspects of your care will be handled in the most comfortable, safest and efficient manner possible!

Will insurance cover the study?

While most insurance companies provide coverage for the cost of the study, as well as follow-up and treatment plans, it is always important to check with your insurance provider for exact coverage levels. All sleep studies are billed as an outpatient procedure through St. Francis Regional Medical Center.
